Dubai arrests Asians for sharing offensive video flaunting wealth

DUBAI 4 January 2019: Dubai Police has arrested two Asians for sharing offensive video on social media.

The two Asian men, in their twenties, shared an offensive video that apparently showed one throwing thousand dirham bank notes under his feet while encouraged by the second who was driving the car.

The case was referred to Dubai Public Prosecution to take legal actions against the two suspects, who have admitted to recording the video for flaunting among their followers on social media.

Colonel Faisal Al Qasim, Director of Security Media Department at Dubai Police, said the actions of the suspects have provoked the indignation of society members, prompting the police to start identifying the perpetrators and arrest them.

Col Al Qasim urged members of the public to usesocial media positively and prevent the misuse of local values, cultures and traditions. He also added that similar violations are punishable by UAE Federal Law No.5 of 2012 on Combating Cybercrime.
