DUBAI 3 November 2017: Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) is heading to Skydive Dubai for an adrenaline-packed weekend for the whole family.

Featuring a host of extreme, adventure and determination sports, plus fun team and individual activities and entertaining stage acts, the event promises to kick it up several notches as the month-long Challenge hits its halfway mark.

Commencing at 1pm on Friday 3rd November till 9pm, and from 1 pm till 7pm on Saturday 4th November, the third of DFC’s five weekend carnivals is geared to keep all ages motivated to make Dubai the most active city in the world by committing to 30 minutes of daily activity.

The upcoming carnival is designed to energise, entertain and inspire participants as they continue their progress towards their #Dubai30x30 goals, as well as accelerate the community’s collective activity being tracked across the entire city.

Distinguishing itself from the previous weekend carnivals thanks to its adventure and extreme sports theme, the Skydive Dubai event will feature everything from BMX and parkour courses, a skate park and a climbing wall, to kayaking, canoeing, paragliding and Urban Attack Obstacle Racing. Determination sports will also be a key feature, with all participants being offered the opportunity to try wheelchair rugby and basketball, boccia, and sitting volleyball.

Also making an appearance will be Red Bull athlete and renowned CrossFit trainer, Sheikha Al Qassimi, who will be sharing her fitness journey. The weekend is designed for all ages and fitness levels so whether or not you want to experiment with these ‘out of the ordinary’ activities, the carnival offers a full range of fitness programmes and fun stage entertainment for the whole family.

Additional highlights of the Carnival include the X-Spartan Workout and the X-Dubai Sunrise Yoga session in the middle of the Skydive Dubai runway. The former is scheduled for 9am on Friday and the latter for 6.30am on Saturday, with both activities expected to be hugely popular among those looking for the ultimate physical challenge as well as a more Zen experience overlooking the sparkling waters of Dubai Marina.

An unmissable feature this upcoming weekend is Dubai’s first ever Superhero Walkathon, which will see Dubai Marina transformed into a scene straight out of comic book wonderland. Participants young and old are invited to dress up as their favourite caped crusader and battle it out for fitness supremacy. Starting at the Carnival’s main stage at 4pm on Friday 3rd November, join Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman or Thor as they make their way along a 3.2km walking route through Dubai Marina, using their superpowers to reach the finish line and then log their moves on the DFC app.

Main stage highlights:

Experts from Les Mills, the world’s leader in group training, will engage the audience with a host of fitness classes including Body Pump, Body Combat and Hatha yoga.
Arthur Murray Dance Studio will teach participants the Merengue during a dedicated dance fitness class.
Football Freestylers Lisa Zimouche & Mohammed Al Noufali will showcase their skills on the main stage on the Day 2 of the carnival
The Extreme BMX Tricks Squad will perform a variety of stunts live on stage, making for a high-octane photo opportunity.
Virgin Radio host Kris Fade will be working the crowds, taking part in his own fitness challenges and giving out a host of prizes to lucky participants.
World BMX Champion Ola Selsjord will be present at the X-Dubai BMX Pump track demonstrating and teaching tricks on the mainstage

Activities and sports at the Come and Try Fitness Zone will include Trampoline, Battle Rope Challenge, wall climbing and circuit classes. The Children’s Fun and Fitness Zone will feature a parkour course, BMX ramps, a DP World Ninja Warrior course, and special kayaking and canoeing sessions for younger participants. In addition, Les Mills’ Born to Move classes will be inspiring kids to get moving and develop a lifelong love of physical activity.

As Dubai takes up the challenge, everyone is encouraged to make the most of DFC’s many opportunities to take positive steps towards a healthy lifestyle – not just for themselves, but also for family and friends. DFC has been created to motivate Dubai’s citizens, residents and visitors to boost their physical activity and commit to 30 minutes of daily activity for 30 days.

Running from 20 October to 18 November 2017, the Challenge encompasses all forms of activity – from beach cricket, cycling and football, to paddle boarding, team sports, walking and yoga, and everything in between. All ages and fitness levels are encouraged to participate individually or together with friends, family and colleagues, enjoying new and exciting ways to improve their fitness levels. Participants can track their performance and their contribution to the city on the DFC app.
