British Council opens computer IELTS test centres across UAE

DUBAI 4 March 2019: The British Council is opening three computer-delivered IELTS test centres across the UAE this week, meeting a growing demand for the world’s most popular high-stakes English language test.

The new openings in Al Ain, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, demonstrate an increased recognition of the role of English language to empower young people to compete in a globalised workforce. IELTS is a key requirement by many countries such as Canada and Australia for immigrants.

UAE test takers are one of the fastest adopters globally for the new computer-delivered test, driving the need for more centres in new locations across the country. The openings include Al Ain University, New Horizons Training Institute in Dubai and University of Science and Technology in Abu Dhabi. The new centres will give students more choice of computer-delivered IELTS locations, adding to existing centres in American University of Sharjah and TEPTH in Dubai.

Deep Adhikari, Deputy Regional Exams Manager at British Council commented: “Computer Delivered IELTS will provide candidates with flexible access to the IELTS Tests across the country.

The new opening in Al Ain University is the first computer-delivered IELTS centre in the city, helping students to take IELTS at a more convenient location.

Computer-delivered IELTS was launched in the UAE in November 2018 and currently has test centres across Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Al Ain.
