DUBAI 3 April 2019: One of Dubai’s major master developers, Nakheel, has rejected criticism on social media about its handling of units for rent in the Night Souk (market) on Deira Islands.

“Nakheel wishes to clarify the situation regarding tenant rental agreements at The Night Market, following misguided, unfounded reports on social media,” it said in a statement.

“We are proud of, and committed to, The Night Market, which was created specifically to encourage young Emiratis into business. We continue to support them, as we always have, by exercising fairness and flexibility with a number of initiatives to assist those who booked space at the project. These include:

– rent reductions of between 30 per cent and 50 per cent
– three months’ free rent
– installment plans
– consolidation of units by 50 per cent (eg reducing the number of units from six to three)
– the option to sublease
– ability to transfer units post signing

“With the project nearing completion, we have recently written to tenants – with reminders where necessary requesting them to sign their lease,” it added.

Nakheel promoted Deira Islands Night Souk as “a beautiful, modern interpretation of the traditional Arabic souk set right next to Deira Mall, on Deira Islands.

A bustling new shopping and dining destination on the 15.3 sq. km, Deira Islands development stretches 1.9 km along Deira Islands’ waterfront with 5,300 shops and 96 quayside cafés and restaurants.
