New service for residents who are outside country

ABU DHABI 22 March 2020: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation introduced a new service on its website: “Tawajudi for residents”.

The new service is intended for residents with valid residencies and who are outside the country. This service aims to facilitate their safe return to the UAE in emergency situations.

Residents who are currently abroad can register for this service through MoFAIC’s website, thus facilitating communication with them in case of emergency. The service can be accessed through the main page of the ministry’s website, under Individuals Services, then click on “Tawajudi for residents”.

This unprecedented step spurs from the keenness of the UAE and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to ensure the health and safety of residents on its land and facilitate their return to the country in emergency cases, said Wam.

Egypt suspends Friday prayers at Al-Azhar

CAIRO: Al-Azhar Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb decided on Saturday to suspend Friday prayers and congregational prayers for the Muslims at Al-Azhar Mosque downtown Cairo for two weeks, as a preventive measure against the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic.

Six days ago, the Grand Imam issued a fatwa, saying that the cancellation of Friday prayer and all congregational prayers are permissible amid the current health crisis.

Also, Egypt’s Ministry of Awqaf [Endowment] closed Al Sayeda Zainab Mosque, one of the most important and historical mosques in Old Cairo, after a large number of worshippers mobbed outside the mosque following the Friday prayer, the ministry announced in a statement.
