DUBAI 21 May 2017: A Pakistani, who was distributing promotional slips for teaching Quran at doorsteps, molested a student in the lift of her residence buildings, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
On March 28, AJ, 20, Indian student got into the lift of her residence building in Al Nahda II area.
“A man got into the lift behind me and as the lift was moving up, he put his arm around my neck to forcibly turn my to face him, while and with his other hand he was groping my bosom. I shouted and screamed and pushed him away until the lift’s door opened. Residents and my father gathered at the lift and caught the assailant,” she testified.
The crime was reported to the police, who arrived and arrested OA, 33. The accused holds tile-paver visa.
The accused initially denied the accusation but later he admitted to it.
The victim told the police that she had never seen the accused before.
“I can teach Quran. I prepared a promotional slip and I distributed them at flats. I admired the girl who I saw entering the building. I tried to seduce her that she may offer me sex. As she refused, I apologised to her several times,” he admitted.
There were no camera in the lift but only in the building’s corridors and entrance.
Court will give sentence on May 25.
