Over two-thirds of Abu Dhabi Airport interchange completed

direct link from terminal to Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain

ABU DHABI 19 June 2017: Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada), announced that 68 per cent of the Dh678 million upgraded road network and interchange project at Abu Dhabi International Airport has been completed.

The project will connect the new terminal of Abu Dhabi International Airport to the Abu Dhabi – Shahama, E10, highway and will provide a direct access to and from the terminal towards Abu Dhabi as well as Dubai and Al Ain cities. Under the project, the E10 highway will become broader, increasing from four to five lanes in both directions, and the Presidential Flight road will increase from two to three lanes in both directions.

“Once operational, this project will significantly help improve traffic safety levels and reduce accident ratios by enhancing traffic movement, ensuring smooth flow and avoiding any congestion in future,” said Faisal Ahmad Al Suwaidi, Director-General of Main Roads Division at Department of Municipal Affairs and Department of Transport (DMAT).

Designed and constructed in line with highest international design, traffic engineering, safety and environment standards, this crucially pivotal traffic route represents an important addition to the main road network in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Saleh Al Sheibah Al Mazrouei, Musanada’s Acting Roads and Infrastructure Executive Director, said, “The project is one of the critical land transport projects currently being executed by Musanada, as part of its efforts to deliver strategic projects that contribute to achievement of the objectives of Abu Dhabi Plan, enhance the quality of infrastructure and support the economic development of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and the overall development process in the UAE.”
