UAE has world’s highest citizen home-ownership

ABU DHABI 9 February 2018: The UAE Cabinet has approved the establishment of 7,270 housing units for Emiratis to meet their needs over the course of the next three years at a total cost of Dh7 billion.

“Today, 80 per cent of our people (Emiratis) have their own homes; it is the highest globally,” said His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, according to Wam.

“We have issued instructions to provide Emirati residential neighbourhoods with the latest infrastructure that takes into consideration sustainability specifications and provision of green environment as well as healthy and clean atmosphere,” he added.

“Having your own home ensures families’ tranquillity and living a decent life. The UAE will not stop supporting its citizens and provide a better and happier life for them… Our financial resources will remain harnessed for their service and our human cadres are working for their benefit. Our government will continue to measure their success and happiness,” Shaikh Mohammed added.

During the meeting, the cabinet approved a national plan to develop medical research centres across the UAE, to bring about a comprehensive development of the UAE’s health economy. The setting up of medical research centres aims to better study and understand the medical challenges facing the UAE community and the necessary health services for the coming decades.

During the meeting, the cabinet also issued a decree forming the board of the General Sports Authority chaired by Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Romaithi.
