UAQ to welcome ‘Flame of Hope’ on Wednesday

UMM AL QAIWAIN 5 March 2019: Umm Al Qaiwain will, on Wednesday, will receive the protectors of the “Flame of Hope” during their journey around the country, marking the final stage of the start of the Special Olympics World Games, Abu Dhabi 2019.

Supported by H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, and with the monitoring of Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Qaiwain and Chairman of the Umm Al Qaiwain Executive Council, a ceremony marking the event will be held under the patronage of Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, as part of the flame’s 10-day journey, starting from Fujairah and ending in the capital, Abu Dhabi, on 13th March, said Wam.

Major General Rashid bin Ahmed Al Mu’alla, Commander-in-Chief of the Umm Al Qaiwain Police, said that the Umm Al Qaiwain Police have completed preparations to receive the Flame marking the commencement of Special Olympics, which will run from 14th to 21st March, 2019.

The flame, which will be carried by its protectors, who include athletes and Emirati and international police officers, will pass by two sub-routes and its main route through the emirate.

The flame will start its first sub-route in Al Salma from the Umm Al Qaiwain Autism Centre through the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development Centre, before travelling to the flag location in Al Khor Park, passing by many government and local departments that have prepared various performances to celebrate the event. The flame will stop in Al Shuhadaa Square in front of the Emiri Court before travelling through its third route from Bait Al Bahr to the Umm Al Qaiwain Museum.
