Strong winds warning in Arabian Gulf

ABU DHABI 15 March 2019: The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has warned the sea-goers in the Arabian Gulf to be cautious due to fresh-to-strong northwesterly wind.

NCM said the wind will be associated with convective clouds with a speed of 50 km/h, leading to rough sea with a wave height of 5 to 7 reaching 8 feet in depth until 10 p.m. today.

Friday: Hazy and partly cloudy to cloudy with scattered rainfall with thunder at times, with decrease in temperatures over some areas. Fresh Southeasterly to Easterly winds and strong at times especially with clouds activity over the sea, and causing blowing dust and sand over the exposed areas, with a speed of 25 – 40 km/hr, reaching 55 km/hr. Rough to very rough seas with clouds activity in the Arabian Gulf and rough in Oman Sea.

Saturday: Cloudy by morning northward and eastward, becoming hazy to partly cloudy in general. Fresh southeasterly to northeasterly winds during daytime especially over the sea, becoming moderate by night, causing blowing dust and sand over the exposed areas with a speed of 20 – 30 km/hr, reaching 40 km/hr. Rough seas, becoming moderate by evening in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.

Sunday: The clouds will increase gradually by evening over scattered areas, especially over the coastal and northern areas of the country, with a chance of scattered rainfall continuing on Monday. Moderate to fresh southeasterly to easterly winds, especially with clouds activity over the sea, causing blowing dust and sand over the exposed areas with a speed of 20 – 30 km/hr, reaching 45 km/hr. Moderate seas, becoming rough at times especially with clouds activity in the Arabian Gulf and moderate in Oman Sea.
