DUBAI 2 May 2019: Dubai Police has arrested the person who took a video of a road rage incident when a woman  drove away with the parking valet on the bonnet of the car.

The video-taker has been arrested on charges of invasion of privacy.

The valet and the lady driver have also been referred for further police action for putting lives at risk.

The video has gone viral on social media. Dubai Gazette has seen the video and the image above is a still from it.

The video shows a car parking valet in one of Dubai hotels, in a heated argument with the lady driver. He repeatedly jumps on the bonnet of her car – and the lady in rage – finally drives off on to a busy intersection with him clinging on to the bonnet of the car.

Colonel Faisal Al Qasim, Director of the Department of Security Information, confirmed that the law in the UAE criminalizes the filming of people without their knowledge and dissemination of their photos on social networks or other websites. The crime, under Article 21 of the Information Technology Law, is punishable by jail or a fine or both.

Col Faisal called on members of the public to report any suspicion, accident, crime, disagreement and others through the ‘police eye’ app via smartphones and on the Dubai cyber police website, stressing not to disseminate videos with relatives or friends even if it is in good faith, so that they do not suffer legal accountability.
