DUBAI 2 June 2020: Some 11,000 Indian expatriates have so far been repatriated from Dubai via 60 special flights, said the top Indian diplomat based in Dubai.

Shri Vipul, consul general of India said his government has allowed chartered flights, in addition to more special fights.

Slowly all who want to go back home will be repatriated, the consul general said.

He appealed to those wishing to return not to congregate at the consulate as the crowds have become too large to handle efficiently.

We cannot maintain social distancing as too many people are coming to consulate. We are still in the pandemic situation and flights are still limited. But we promise all who want to return to India will be facilitated, the consul general stressed.

Instead of visiting the consulate, he urged those wishing to go back to contact the consulate via email, phone or social media channels.

He said priority seating on repatriation flights is being given to those most in need such as pregnant women and workers who are in dire straits.

The Indian consul general thanked the UAE Government for facilitating the return of expatriates and urged the Indian community in the UAE to support the consulate in ensuring a smooth transfer of all who wish to return to India.
