6,000 cameras secure metro, tram stations in Dubai

Continuous studies undertaken to improving performance of surveillance cameras

The safety and security one enjoys in Dubai is unrivalled. Currently, there are about 6,000 high-tech cameras that secure metro and tram stations.

According to Colonel Mohammed Ahmed Al Bastaki, Director, Transportation Security Administration, Dubai Police, there are ongoing studies aiming at improving performance of surveillance cameras and updating them in accordance with the latest developments.

Operating rooms in Rashidiya and Al Qiyada are equipped with the latest technologies and systems for command and control. They are linked with CCTV cameras covering the transportation sector in the whole of Dubai, reported ‘Gulf Today’.

Apart from these, metro and tram areas are secured using X-Ray detectors, chemical detectors and sniffer dogs to search for suspicious material.
