Cosmetic Surgery Coma: Guilty will be punished

DUBAI 13 May 2019: The Dubai Health Authority has clarified that the full measure of the law will be applied in the case of a young Emirati woman who slipped into coma after an ordinary rhinoplasty (Nose job) procedure in Dubai.

Dr Marwan Al Mulla CEO of the Health Regulation Sector at the DHA said that the authority is standing by the side of the family of the young Emirati adding that the medical negligence she suffered will not go unpunished.

He pointed out that negligence will not pass without accountability and that the law will take its course and will provide all the evidence it receives to the competent authorities.

Dr Al Mulla said that the authority is dealing with the case in a transparent manner, while taking into consideration the privacy of patient and the confidentiality of the investigation.

He said that the health sector in the Emirate follows international standards, regulations and conditions for medical practice and that failure to comply with them puts any violator under legal liability in accordance with the legislation in force in the country.

Dr. Al Mulla said that the authority will keep concerned authorities updated with any new evidence to ensure that the law takes its course.
