Dubai CCTV was the undoing of this cycle thief

DUBAI 19 November 2017: A thief of cycles, who was arrested while on a prowl at Al Ittihad station parking area, is being prosecuted before the Dubai Criminal Court.

On August 12, at around 1pm, Ghani CZ, 27, stopped his cycle, which was worth Dh250, at Al Ittihad station and locked it to a steel bar before he took a bus to Sharjah from where he left the country.

“As I returned three days later, I headed to the station to pick up my cycle. I was shocked not to find it there,” he said.

The victim lodged a complaint with the police.

Police which received similar complaints during the same period about cycles been stolen from the same station, put the station under monitoring.

On August 21, policemen noticed a man cutting the lock of a cycle been parked at the station.

“As he got out, we arrested him,” testified policeman Adel Mohammed.

Reviewing CCTV, we saw MN, 37, breaking locks and stealing other two cycles.

The court will reconvene on December 6.
