Dubai traffic alert: Dh600 fine for using bus lanes

Fine effective tomorrow

Dubai motorists will incur Dh600 fine if they use dedicated bus lanes beginning tomorrow [November 1, 2016].

RTA announced that it would activate the enforcement of Dh600 fine on violators of Phase II of dedicated bus lanes on Al Ghubaiba and Al Mamzar Roads, following the expiry of a one-month trial run offered to motorists on October 31, 2016.

Adel Shakri, Director of Transportation Systems, RTA Public Transport Agency, said: “A fine of Dh600 will be issued to offenders through surveillance cameras or manually by police patrols. Should the driver incur two offences for the same occurrence, only one fine would be accounted for.”

A 20-metre ‘grace distance’ nearby exits, turns, and loading/drop off areas have been allocated to ensure smooth flow of other vehicles and to enable motorists to turn towards the exit.

“Order No (1) for 2010 regarding the use of dedicated lanes in the Emirate of Dubai has specified vehicles allowed to use dedicated lanes namely: Public buses, Taxis, Dubai Police vehicles, Civil Defence vehicles, and Ambulance vehicles on duty. Other private vehicles will only be allowed to use the dedicated lane when entering or exiting subsidiary roads,” said Shakri.
