ABU DHABI 25 May 2017: The UAE’s National Center of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has forecast a 3°C rise in temperatures during the coming month of June as compared to May 2017 – projecting a hot and long days of Ramadan.
NCMS said on June 21, the sun comes directly overhead the Tropic of Cancer, marking the beginning of the summer season in the Northern Hemisphere where countries witness the longest days in the year, thus increasing temperatures in most parts of the country with an average increase of approximately two to three degrees Celsius.
It said the heat will be higher as the Siberian High-Pressure ridge will diminish during June, while the Indian Monsoon trough will prevail in the country through most of the month. It extends from the east with the appearance of clouds over some parts, and with the probability of convective clouds over the eastern mountains of the UAE in the afternoon, the NCMS stated.
During May, air temperature was between 33°C to 35° Celsius with a maximum temperature between 40°C and 42°C, and minimum between 27°C and 29°C.
Relative humidity will decrease during June compared to May, especially during the second half. The chances of fog and mist formation will decrease but remain during the first half of this month.
The average relative humidity during May reached 42 per cent, while the average maximum humidity is between 62 and 87 per cent. The average minimum humidity is between 14 and 27 per cent while the wind speed is 13 km/hr.
THURSDAY: Fair weather in general, and partly cloudy at times. Moderate winds becoming fresh by afternoon causing blowing dust/sand especially over western and exposed areas.
The relative humidity is likely to increase during the night and tomorrow early morning over some coastal areas especially northern areas with a chance of mist/fog
formation.
Sea will be moderate at first becoming rough by afternoon in Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate in Oman Sea.
FRIDAY: Fair weather in general, partly cloudy at times. Slight to moderate winds in general, with increase in temperature.
The relative humidity will increase during night and early morning over some coastal areas with probability of mist formation.
Sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf & in Oman Sea.
