Safety Law to regulate manufacture of products in UAE

FNC approves draft product safety law

ABU DHABI 15 March 2018: The Federal National Council (FNC), has approved a draft federal law on product safety, after adding to and amending some of its articles.

The law will be applied to all products in the country, including in free zones, with the exception of the following products – medicines, vaccines and antiques, as well as products used in medicines, vaccines and goods that are listed as antiques, along with used products that need to be repaired or modified prior to their entry into the country.

The session was attended by Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of Directors of the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology (Esma), said Wam.

Several FNC members also directed five questions to Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, about appointing foreign teachers in public schools, the decline of student grades, the compulsory transfer of school headmasters, the lack of a career ladder in the educational sector, and school accreditation.

The FNC received five written responses from Al Hammadi while the FNC members who directed the questions, who are Naema Abdullah Al Sharhan, who presented three questions, and Aisha bin Samnoh and Salem Al Shehi, requested Al Hammadi’s presence to respond to the question.
