Girl who escaped Daesh killed by own family

Stabbed more than 10 times in bed

A Syrian girl who managed to escape from Daesh in North Syria was murdered by her own family in Lebanon on the grounds she committed a sin.

The 18-year-old girl was slaughtered like a ‘sheep’ in her bed by her family in the Lebanese capital Beirut, Alsafir newspaper said.

After fleeing Daesh and arriving in Lebanon, the girl met a relative who agreed to marry her to save her from her family, it said.

“This did not work. After marriage she was taken home where her family members stabbed her more than 10 times while she was in bed,” the Lebanese daily said, adding that her brother, the main culprit, handed himself over to the police after the murder.
